Explore the splendor of Sommarøy and its surroundings from a summit
A scenic hours drive from Tromsø will take us to Sommarøy. Just the drive there itself is an experience over mountain passes and along the fjords. Often we will spot a reindeer or sea eagle along the way and pass through small villages surrounded by the mountains.
At Sommarøy we will cross the island of Hillesøy from north to south. A nice hike with some small challenges on the path. At the summit you will have a 360 degrees panoramic view of Sommarøy and its surroundings. To tghe north you will see Håja, the icon island that is the inspiration to the arctic cathedral in Tromsø. To the south you can view the wild and rugged west coast of Senja, the third largest island in Norway.
Often we will spot a sea eagle mid air hunting for fish.
At the summit or on one of the hidden gem beaches we will have a good rest with coffe or hot chocolate, so bring a lunchbag if you wish:)
After the tour you will have free time to explore the community of Sommarøy on your own before departure.
At the summit you will understand why we call Sommarøy the arctic Carribean
